Vehicle-Terminal Application for Agricultural Auto-Steering

A field-application view of how the terminal presents guidance, correction status, machine information and task records around a separate steering-control system.

The requirement behind the terminal.

The terminal had to help an operator understand line guidance, RTK state, field progress and recovery without blurring the boundary between the display and the steering controller.

Role of the PDS platform

PDS vehicle-computer platforms can host the guidance interface and exchange project-defined data with positioning and machine systems. Steering authority, actuators, safety logic and final control validation remain part of the complete system.

What the PDS scope supplied

  • Rugged display and computing platform options
  • Operator interface for guidance and correction status
  • Project-defined CAN, serial and positioning connections
  • Multiple display sizes for different cab and information needs

What remained in the wider system

  • Steering controller, actuator and safety authority
  • RTK correction service, receiver and antenna design
  • Guidance software and machine protocol integration
  • Field acceptance for line holding, recovery and operator handover

Questions for a similar project

  1. Is the terminal an HMI, the guidance computer or both?
  2. How are correction loss and controller faults shown to the operator?
  3. Which field and task state must recover after an interrupted shift?
